The Divine Monstrous
a monster of a poem (***FLASH WARNING***)

.
I worry I make it exceedingly obvious
That my roots were never deep enough
.
That fickle ground did what it could
.
They said
how much can
really grow from stunted soil?
And I fought that hard:
I wasn’t something to be pitied
I was magnificent
.
I would be
So much bigger
Than that which had held me back
I would float to the stars
With nothing to hold me down
.
And I would shine among them
Upward the only direction I would compute
I would
Trail my foot lazy hanging on a crescent moon
.
.
I was told that
From my earliest days
I ached to play with more words
and whined to find the right ones
.
Perhaps it really was all I could do
To make sense of everything and its rules
Uprooted we all became anyway
.
.
.
.
.
Had to construct my own scripture
after all that conflict stiffened me
Became sticky with stigma
Extricated from a path of capaciousness
Honesty shoved down deep in my consciousness and
Longing hanging its arms from
The small of my back
There it lingers
.
Exquisite quitter, O
How the resistance simmers
Don the monstrous
watch this body splintered
A freak show fixture of meaty bleeding fissures
Thrust apart harder ripped, yet mister richter somehow missed it
is richer still
Perhaps the world only shook in your fictions of visions
.
So the broke thing roared and this time it spoke
Something grim and gross, gaping sore
Like pus rushing gushing out of
Every single pore
.
O Mama Baba Yaga
Teach my home to have legs
Teach me how to scare the men away
Wield the shivering shadows of Siberia
Eat the flesh of those most tender
Send me headfirst into the deadliest weathers
.
.
Make the incisions with more precision
My
Mind
Tinged with
Sinful instincts no no no the self schisms
No no no
The ward doesn’t work
No no no
I cannot
.
confessed confined to
dishonor and
Exile
.
Only dreaming
of being believed
.
.
.
.
.
